UN-Decade ESD


Every year 500.000 new students start their studies at approx. 400 German Higher Education Institutes. Students of every discipline should learn in their studies how to build a sustainable development. This is one goal of the UN-Decade of education for sustainable development (ESD). In March 2009, at the half time of the UN-Decade, the world conference in Bonn (Germany) pronounces the importance and the responsibility of Higher Education Institutes to teach competences in sustainable development. They have to admit it in there learning concepts. At the beginning of 2010 the conference of the lecturers of German Higher Education Institutes and the German commission of the UNESCO applies again in a corporate statement at the Institutes to integrate sustainability in their science ant teaching.
