Awards

The Virtual Academy of Sustainability has received several awards for its efforts to anchor and spread the topic of sustainability in university teaching.

 

The German UNESCO Commission has honoured the Virtual Academy of Sustainability several times within the framework of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development - most recently in 2018/19 as an "Excellent Place to Learn". The Virtual Academy of Sustainability is thus regarded as a flagship project with the political and strategic aim of shaping the educational landscape within and beyond the UN Decade.

 

The German Council for Sustainable Development has honoured the Virtual Academy several times as well. Most recently, it received the "Project N" award in 2017, once again highlighting it as an important role model for responsible treatment of the environment, the sustainable shaping of social coexistence and economic activity.

 

In 2014, the ZEIT WISSEN Prize "Courage to Sustainability" nominated the Virtual Academy of Sustainability with two other competitors. Here, too, the commitment to spreading and anchoring education for sustainable development in the university landscape was honoured.
