Open Educational Resources of the Virtual Academy of Sustainability
The target of the Virtual Academy of Sustainability – to provide education for a sustainable development free of charge – is strongly linked with the basic values of Open Educational Resources. As firstly stated by the UNESCO in the “Declaration of Paris” (2012) with reference to the human right of education and the development goals of nations towards an inclusive, high-quality education for everyone, Open Educational Resources mean “educational and research offers in every form, on each medium, digital or otherwise, being free for everyone or published under free licenses, offering access and usage free of charge, as well as free editing and subsequent processing with no or limited regulations”. The Virtual Academy follows this aspiration through providing learning videos and course materials for all people interested. In this manner, education for sustainable development is accessible for a broad audience and a development of society in line with the UN-goals for sustainability is possible.
